Under the direction of the clinic's Medical Director, the PA will apply the principles, methods and techniques of medicine as defined within state regulations. Assist physicians in the management of medical care for patients. Meets with the supervising physician as necessary to consult and/or review care.
Assesses the medical, physical, and psychological status of patients by reviewing patient records,obtaining a comprehensive problem- oriented health history, performing a physical examination of appropriate complexity, and ordering and evaluating laboratory, x-ray, EKG's, and other diagnostic studies as medically indicated.
Performs or delegates procedures and tests e.g. suturing lacerations, excision of minor lesions, wart removal, PAP smears, IV insertion, EKG's, as deemed appropriate by the supervising physician.
Interprets available data in order to establish a diagnosis and develop a treatment plan. Consults as needed with the supervising physician regarding abnormal results or when a medical problem is beyond the scope of his/her training. Provides referrals as needed to consulting physicians.
Requires at least 1-3 years experience in Occupational Medicine, Emergency Medicine or Family Practice. Candidate must have graduated from an accredited PA program by the NCCPA and hold the proper license and certification to practice as a PA in Nebraska. Bi-lingual in Spanish a plus, but not required.
